A Change Is Coming walk tour

2025 marks 40 years since the introduction of the Homosexual Law Reform bill. Honour our amazing rainbow kaumatua and allies who proudly led the way.

Starting at the site of New Zealand’s first public reform meeting in 1967 and ending at Parliament, this walk reflects on past struggles and honours those who paved the way. Along the route, we explore the challenges faced by rainbow communities. Though some stories are tough, the walk is ultimately uplifting—celebrating those who ignited change and stood for equality.

Health & Safety

This an outdoors walk tour with limited shelter from the weather. We walk on public footpaths which are generally flat. We end by walking up the incline in Parliament grounds.

Please dress for the weather conditions. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather. Tours are limited to approximately 20 walkers.
