Crime and Punishment

Tour group in the lower Cemetery

Extraordinary stories about people who broke the law, as well as lawyers, policemen, jailers and judges. There's even a murder or two!

Hear stories about the jailers, judges and policemen who were dealing with criminals, as well as some of the villains and murderers that shocked earlier generations in Wellington. Find out about the duelling pistol that was involved in the deaths of a lawyer and a magistrate; and about an unsolved murder on a quiet farm road. There’s even a criminal or two.
