Forgotten Lives: Masterton Cemetery

An exploration of some of the unusual and colourful headstones in the Archer Street cemetery.

Retired archivist and Wairarapa historian Gareth Winter will lead you through the tales of some of the region's unusual characters, their life stories now largely forgotten - young men whose lives were cut short miles from their family - women who died in childbirth, and the ladies whose spiritualist group was known as "The Spooks".

Health & Safety

We will be walking through some of the older parts of Masterton Cemetery, so care must be taken.

Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
