Golder Cottage Open Days

Golder Cottage, built 1876, 707 Fergusson Drive, Elderslea, Upper Hutt.

We invite you to see how the pioneering Golder Family of 16 coped from the 1870s- 50 years before water reticulation and electricity in their part of town!

We open the Cottage to show how our pioneers lived - from the house itself to the outbuildings, which include a wash house, storeroom (today's fridge) and long drop mock up. (We have a 'real' toilet for our visitors to use!)

Health & Safety

There is wheelchair access to the ground floor - but not to the Attic bedrooms. There is a booklet available with photographs of what is up there.
