We will be hosting six walks along some of Wellingtons most precious tāonga, our hidden streams. Join us and start your own journey to rediscover your awa.
This walk is part of the "Many Walks of Wellington's Streams" event for the Wellington Heritage Festival 2024. It will be hosted by the Zealandia Kia Mouriora te Kaiwharawhara Sanctuary to Sea Project Lead - Dr Nate Rigler.
Nate will lead an educational walk through the Otari Wilton bush section of the Kaiwharawhara stream discussing aspects of the awa including the whakapapa of its name, previous attempts at stream restoration and the ambitious 500 yr plan to restore the mauri of the stream currently being undertaken by Zealandia.
This walk will run for approximately 90 minutes.
Children under 16 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A reserve day is set for 17 Nov in the event of weather disruption on the day.
Note: Please follow the Facebook page for any updates to the walk including weather postponement.
Health & Safety
All precautions will be taken by the hosts but as we will be crossing busy streets, all participants will be required to sign a health and safety waiver to ensure they can take responsibility for their own safety during the duration of the walk.
