Modern Wellington Walking Tour

Hear the stories of Wellington’s important mid- to late-twentieth century buildings, structures and places on the Modern Wellington Walking Tour.

Each year we explore a new area of the central city; learning about the huge changes, culture shifts and controversies that went along with all that concrete, steel and glass!

This year the Modern Wellington Walking Tour starts at 1pm on Sunday 2 November, and attendees are encouraged to gather from 12:45pm at the corner of Taranaki and York Streets.

This is a free walking tour, but booking is essential by emailing: information@heritage.org.nz. Places are strictly limited and please be sure to specify you want to attend the Modern Wellington Walking Tour when you contact us at Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga.

The tour will take approximately 1.5 hours, so comfortable walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing/protection are essential.

Health & Safety

A health and safety briefing will be given to all attendees at the beginning of the tour. A first aid kit will be available.

Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
