Dramatic skies above St Luke's the church on the hill in Wadestown

Open Day at St Luke's Church, Wadestown

This event showcases recently completed seismic strengthening and refurbishment work at St Luke's, a Frederick de Jersey Clere -designed church built in 1908.

This Open Day will appeal to those with an interest in NZs architectural and cultural history.

You will see how we have complemented Clere's strong church-design elements.

You will also see other features of historical interest. These include a notable stained-glass memorial window dedicated to those who died in WWII.

St Luke's also boasts an historic pipe organ which dates from 1878. The organ is regularly maintained and is used every Sunday.

Health & Safety

There are two access ways to the church, each has a ramp.

Inside the church there are steps in the chancel (front of the church) but it is not necessary to use the stairs to see the building features.

Visitors should take care when using these access ways.
