Wellington School of Philosophy & Meditation

Practical Philosophy and meditation is a charitable non-profit organisation which has offered practical philosophy courses in Wellington since 1956. Philosophy House, our centre in Aro Valley, was built in 1913 by the Salvation Army and has been our home since 1984. The building has undergone extensive earthquake strengthening over the last 8 years and the exterior is being painted to make is usable for decades to come. Our building boasts beautiful classrooms as well as dining and residential facilities. Inspired by a universal philosophy, we are guided by the great teachings of the world including Advaita, Plato & Socrates, Sufi and the Buddha. Practical philosophy students have been practising the awareness exercise and mantra-based meditation for over 60 years.
