Puna-o-te Aroha

An introduction to the Kapiti coast of the early settlers and tangata whenua that navigated into the Kapiti Coast.

Celebrate the historic names that settled in the Kapiti coast of all nations. The history and culture, how it affected and what it means to our Whakarongotai marae.

Depicting the tangata whenua or original owners and the early settlers that both come by Waka and by boats that passed through Cook Strait, Kapiti, and settled in Waikanae.

All will be displayed and written on the walls of our whare with photos and the sails of waka and vessels in the center. The ceiling will be covered in lights depicting Matariki, by which the early seafarers navigated their passage.

Takiri Cottrell will be adding her korero about Paraparaumu.
