A rare opportunity to learn about and tour the former site of Silverstream Hospital, originally used for US troops during WWII.
An illustrated presentation about the history of Silverstream Hospital, followed by a tour of its former site (now Silverstream Retreat). Originally operated by the US Navy during WWII to care for US troops sick or injured while fighting in the Pacific, it subsequently provided long term hospital care for the Wellington District, before closing in 1989.
There are no health and safety issues we are aware of.
Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
