The Eternal Woman of William Shakespeare

By Rhona Davis MBE, "The Eternal Woman of William Shakespeare" is a cue-script staged reading.

For Wellington Heritage Festival 2024, Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand (SGCNZ) and Wellington Shakespeare Society (WSS), plus some professional actors and a surprise Guest Star, are joining forces to present a staged cue-script reading of The Eternal Woman of William Shakespeare.

Linked by a Narrator, this hour-long play takes the audience on a journey with Shakespeare’s women, from young to old, through 21 selected speeches (plus 3 very short ones by men!).

This performance is engaging and reveals aspects of the Bard’s ‘take’ on women, with extraordinary currency, challenging our thoughts today and perceptions of the place of women in society now and then.
