Toi MAHARA

Toi MAHARA is the district gallery for the Kāpiti Coast. The rebuilt gallery has brought contemporary design and vibrancy to Waikanae township and a revitalised cultural centre for the greater region. There are four exhibition spaces showcasing local creativity, toi Māori, historical art, and work by regionally and nationally significant artists. Toi MAHARA is also the home of The Field Collection, which focuses on 24 paintings by Frances Hodgkins. It is the largest public collection of this renowned artist’s work outside Te Papa and Auckland and Dunedin art galleries. Toi MAHARA invites you to explore, engage, and take home an artwork from the heart of the Kāpiti Coast.
