Asian histories in Aotearoa collection highlights at Te Papa

Get behind the scenes at Te Papa for this kōrero about taonga from the recent publication ‘Between Dreams: Resistance and Representation in Asian Aotearoa’.

A rare opportunity to view the objects that speak to Asian New Zealanders’ sense of identity and belonging. Curator Richella Visakha will lead this exclusive 90-minute kōrero that includes many taonga that have never been shown to the public.

Richella Visakha is Curator Asian New Zealand Histories at Te Papa. Her work is focused on mapping and documenting the complex network of colonial collecting of Indonesian taonga (Pusaka) across various institutions around the world--including at Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa Tongarewa. She is a budding provenance researcher with a passion for co-collaborative research and repatriation means.
