Crime & Punishment Walking Tour

Explore some exciting aspects of early legal developments in Wellington and around, shaping our legal/judicial systems of today.
We’ll take a wander to find those who were responsible, in the earliest days of the settlement of Wellington (and our country) for creating and enforcing the law, those who sat in the law courts, and those who kept incarcerated the people who failed to observe the law. There’s duellists, police and military law enforcers, and even a criminal or two.
Tour start at the Bolton Street Cemetery Museum, Lower Bolton Street, and will last 1.5 hours. Cost $10 per person, but free for children. The tour will be limited to 20 people, so book early to avoid disappointment.
This event is not suitable for wheelchairs. Please wear sturdy shoes, as some of the paths are steep and can be slippery. Care is required.
Health & Safety
Uneven paths, walkways and grassed areas. Certified First Aid person accompanies each tour.
Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
