Health & Safety

This tour is suitable for people with moderate fitness. The route mostly follows paved surfaces but there are some areas of unevenness. Surefootedness is required. During the winter months the ground can become slippery in places so good footwear is also required. This tour involves approximately 2km of walking, with some slow paced but uphill stints

Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.

Friends of Karori Cemetery

We are a group of volunteers who seek to promote public interest in the Cemetery which is the second largest in New Zealand covering 100 acres. Our purpose is to advocate for and develop the heritage and ecological values of Karori Cemetery, and to assist with grave/plot restoration. Our purposes are: -To support the preservation, protection and enhancement of the heritage, recreational and ecological aspects of the Karori Cemetery. -To advise and assist the WCC in its efforts to achieve this. -To promote public interest in the Cemetery. -To support and undertake research into the history of the Cemetery and those interred in it.
