Hickety Pips & Others - Aspects of Military Matters in Colonial Wellington

The military presence in Wellington from 1845-1860 provided protection to the citizens and also supported social and economic development.
This tour covers a wide range of aspects of military service of early settlers, of soldiers serving in Wellington, and of their wives and children, and the contributions those with military experience made to the development of the city, to society and to economic development.
It traverses the lower part of the cemetery, includes some of the earliest burials, and is easy walking (not suitable for those with mobility issues).
Tour duration 1.5 hours, starting and ending at the Bolton Street Cemetery Museum, lower Bolton Street. Cost $10 per person, children under 12 free, and good dogs on leads always welcome.
Health & Safety
Uneven paths, walkways and grassed areas. Certified First Aid person accompanies each tour.
Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
