Kuratawhiti Heritage Loop
Kuratawhiti Street stretches between urban and rural settings and this guided walk will pause briefly at the boundaries at a number of significant buildings.
The walk skirts churches, parks, memorials and settler houses. Volunteers from the Greytown Heritage Trust will share histories and insights along the way.
At midpoint in the walk we will pause for coffee and pastries at Stable - a cafe set in a countryside garden. The last stretch of the walk is entirely rural, briefly touches the Waiohine and returns by a walking track formed from an unmade road. Against a backdrop of the distant Tararuas, we face expansive views across a farming landscape towards the eastern hills.
The ticket price for this event includes a $10 donation to the Greytown Heritage Trust to develop their digital guide and $20 for a fabulous morning tea at Stable Cafe.
Health & Safety
Participants will need sturdy walk shoes or sneakers with good tread.
