Monte Cassino: The New Zealand Story

Renowned historians Chris Pugsley and Buddy Mikaere explore New Zealand’s costly experience at Monte Cassino, including the stories of local men who took part.

The Battle of Monte Cassino was one of New Zealand's most significant and costly campaigns of the Second World War. Military historians Chris Pugsley and Buddy Mikaere will examine the fighting, the decisions that shaped the campaign and its lasting legacy, while bringing the experience close to home through the stories of Featherston and Wairarapa servicemen who served in Italy.
