Old Government Buildings' 150th Birthday

Join us to celebrate a very big building's very big birthday!

Old Government Buildings turns 150 this year. Opened in 1876, Pōneke's most eye-catching Neo-Renaissance icon is one of the world's largest wooden buildings. Once home to the entire Wellington-based civil service, today the building houses Te Herenga Waka Victoria University's Faculty of Law, and is very proudly cared for by Heritage New Zealand. We will be celebrating this big anniversary with a day of tours, talks, activities, and, of course, birthday cake! A full schedule of activities will be available on our website nearer the date - keep an eye out!
