Railway Carriage Restoration Workshop

We are restoring three 120-years old railway carriages to as near their as-built condition as possible. The first is nearly completed.

An open day at our workshop, to view progress to date and work in progress. Our carriages were built using recycled timber 1905-07 by the Wellington & Manawatu Railway Company based on North American plans. They are quite different in construction from any New Zealand Railways-built carriages. We have quite a few challenges to meet as we progress!

Health & Safety

Guided groups will be escorted around the workshop while work is explained. Children must be controlled. The workshop is monitored by CCTV.
