Stories and remnants of old Te Aro

Discover a new side to the few blocks around Cambridge Terrace and Taranaki Street, which were once crowded with small cottages mixed with some large factories.
The walk will uncover stories and some of the physical remnants from the once overcrowded and unhealthy Te Aro. Workers cottages were neighbours with factories such as Bryant and May matches and Frosty Jack ice creams; the Wesley Church and Chinese areas of Frederick and Haining Streets.
Health & Safety
This is a walk in Wellington's CBD. We will need to cross some roads, this will be done where possible at traffic lights. We will make sure participants stay on footpaths when we stop to look at a building or historic site.
Please wear good shoes and dress for the weather. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.
