‘TONES of SILENCE’ – FUTUNA CHAPEL - Black and White Exhibition

Featuring the work of photographer John Grace, who has documented Futuna Chapel over many years, the exhibition showcases light, shadow, form, and memory. Working with an old tripod camera and remarkable 1866 vintage French lenses, Grace creates images that connect contemporary viewers with the craft, atmosphere, and patience of early photography.

Alongside the exhibition, weekend public talks by photographers, writers, and heritage specialists will explore perspectives on heritage architecture and New Zealand history through the lens of black and white photography.

‘Tones of Silence’ cancelled this weekend (7 & 8 November)

Due to an unfortunate double booking, the photographic exhibition ‘Tones of Silence’ will not be available for viewing this weekend, 7 & 8 November. On behalf of Futuna Chapel Trust, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause.

The exhibition will resume on Saturday 14 November and Sunday 15 November, with the Chapel open to visitors from 11am–3pm both days.

Given the high level of interest in this exhibition, the Trust is delighted to announce a series of ‘encore’ opening days to view the exceptional images taken by photographer, John Grace. Dates for the encore events will be announced shortly.
