Visit the Upper Hutt Blockhouse

Discover one of the few remaining buildings associated with the New Zealand Wars.

Tucked down a side street in Trentham, the Upper Hutt Blockhouse is a rare example of a building connected to the New Zealand Wars. Peek through the balistraria, explore the exhibition, have a good chat with our friendly and knowledgeable team, and find out what became of the Blockhouse in the many decades after its use as a defensive fortification.
