Wellington Southern Bays Historical Society Open Day

Open Day at Island Bay Festival 2021. Photo by Eva Kaprinay.

Heritage in the Southern Bays: A display of buildings and natural features in Owhiro, Island and Houghton Bays.

Browse, explore and ask questions about history of the southern bays. Explore our resources gathered over 22 years. View photos, books, display boards and artifacts. Everyone is welcome.

Health & Safety

We are careful to avoid trip hazards. If too many arrive visitors at once, then we would stagger entry, but this is unlikely. There are toilets onsite. The rostered attendants know the evacuation plan, in the event of an earthquake, and the procedure if there is a fire. There is a first aid kit in the room.
