Who was Dr Leonard Cockayne?

This centenary year, get inspired by Dr Leonard Cockayne's legacy and learn about his vision to create a garden devoted entirely to native plants.

We all know of Dr Cockayne’s work here at Ōtari, but he did so much more. Cockayne was a prolific writer of botanical and scientific reports and helped to secure the protection of significant conservation areas around New Zealand. This, centenary year is surely a good time to find out more about Dr Cockayne with Dr Carol West and Kathy Ombler.

Members include families, retirees, keen gardeners, walkers, photographers, botanists and conservationists.
